Citizens Advice Bureau

The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by providing feedback on client experiences to influencing policymakers.

Open to all, the Citizens Advice service provides advice to the people who need it the most as they face their problems, aiming to improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives on a daily basis.

The service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination.

Supporting the vast majority of Citizens Advice Bureaux within the North-East - such as Durham, Barnard Castle, Bishop Aukland, Chester-Le-Street, Consett, Peterlee, Newton Aycliffe, Seaham, Spennymoor, Stockton, Billingham, Wallsend, Jarrow, Whitley Bay, North Shields, South Shields, Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland - over multiple sites, to guarantee these Citizens Advice Bureaux can provide their invaluable service. We provide IT strategy and network development whilst providing daily IT support.

Incorporating various Microsoft and bespoke software packages and a full IT infrastructure development, we ensure the CAB's technology is ready to meet its demands daily, allowing the highest quality service to be provided.

Meldrum Construction

Meldrum Construction Services (MCS) is an expanding and innovative construction company, based in the North East of England, with operations extending throughout the UK.

Established in 2001, MCS offer a customer focused service with a fully trained team of over 80 time served carpenters, bricklayers, ground workers, plant operators, electricians and plumbers.

MCS have a reputation based upon ‘building solutions with integrity', which is why almost all of their work comes from repeat business and referrals.

MCS focus on delivering quality results, on time and within budget, which has helped the company to become a multi-million pound turnover business.

Edward Lowe Accountants

Ed Lowe began his Accountancy career in 1970 as a Trainee Management Accountant with Tudor Crisps (now Walkers Crisps). A 10 year period in industry saw further employments with Cummins Engine Co Ltd as Senior Cost Analyst, Commodore Business Machines (UK) Ltd as Company Accountant and Cole Cranes Ltd as Chief Accountant.

Ed qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA) in 1979 and a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) in 1984. He was accepted as a member of the British Institute of Management (MCMI) in 1979.

In 1980 Ed Lowe moved from industry in to public practice and now has more than 30 years' experience in providing business, accounting and tax advice to the owner managed businesses.

LaneSystems have supported Edward Lowe Accountants since 2003. Since then we have migrated various Sage applications to a virtual environment allowing remote access for home based users. On A Roll Sandwich Company

On A Roll Sandwich Company was created by James Stoddart, Chef & restaurateur, who strongly believes the humble sandwich should not be produced by a stream of accountants or VC's but by people who are passionate about creating food we all love to eat.

And this is echoed throughout the management team, which is made up of former head chefs and people who care about attaining the highest quality food standards, and at a facility which has attained an A graded BRC accreditation year on year.

Country Valley Foods

Country Valley Foods have been providing high quality fresh meat to the catering industry for over 40 years. A family business, Country Valley Foods was established by Stewart Munro in 1971 as a small poultry wholesaler.

Since then the business has grown into a large catering butcher and wholesale food company with 17 vehicles delivering to 100s of restaurants, hotels, food producers, retail butchers and homes across the North of England.

With 2 sites in Darlington and Billingham, Country Valley's reputation for excellent quality, local meat, poultry and chefs' products is what keeps the business growing and growing.

Durham City Transport

Durham City Transport Ltd is a family run organisation started in 1991 by two partners and is now run by Les Coatman, Managing Director. The company still operates as a family run business with further generations now working in all areas of the business.

The company's mission is to provide a quality logistics, warehousing and distribution service to all their customers nationwide.

The logistics and distribution service is delivered by a fleet of 44 rigid and articulated vehicles ranging from Mercedes, Volvo, MAN and ERF. All vehicles are maintained by the respected dealer ensuring a top class fleet in operation at all times.

First Choice Recruitment

First Choice Recruitment was established in October 1994 and has quickly become one of the market leaders in the field of temporary and permanent recruitment in the North East.

First Choice Recruitment specialise in the supply of HGV drivers, warehouse personnel, clerical staff and production personnel.

Clients include many blue chip companies throughout the North East and the UK.

All their staff are fully vetted and checked for suitability, experience and qualifications before placement. This includes:

  • In depth interview
  • Reference checking
  • Manual dexterity testing (where applicable)
  • Skills testing
  • Health check

In addition, they also identify any additional specialist skills so as to separate the 'first class candidate' from the average.

Members of staff at First Choice Recruitment are recognised by the Institute of Employment Consultants (IEC).

LaneSystems have supported First Choice Recruitment since 2004. Development and installation of their IT infrastructure with a new virtualized platform allowed First Choice Recruitment to utilize multiple servers on one hardware platform. This reduced hardware expenditure costs considerably as they needed independent servers for their specialist recruitment software.
